In 2024 They say you should keep your feet firmly planted on the ground, but we think it’s better to relax and give those pups room to breathe come summertime (standing is highly overrated). A new summer pedicure will be essential as we’ll be kicking our feet up, sockless, and shoeless.
“Instead of classic and neutral shades, bright and playful pedicure colors will be popular this summer,” says Deborah Lippmann, a manicurist and the creator of her own nail polish brand. This translates to more vivid greens and less French manicures. Canary yellows are more common than sheer nudes. It’s time to stash earthy and jewel tones for very striking pedicures.
We asked the experts below about the colors that would be popular on toes this summer, and we’ve added some of our own picks for polishes that will help you unwind and enjoy the season on your toes.

Pear In 2024
The last and fourth arm of our government, Pantone, has declared peach fuzz to be the color of 2024. Who are we to dispute with our most significant legislative body? Fortunately, Thea Green, creator of Nails Inc., says it makes for a sugary-sweet pedicure color. “This is the ideal pedicure shade for the approaching summer months because the hues of apricot and peach evoke a sense of freshness and vibrancy,” the expert explains. We choose Habit Nail Polish in 12 Bardot or Sienna Byron Bay in Carnation for their delicate blush. Choose the luscious coral of Chanel Nail Color in Sun Drop for a fruit that is more mature.
Blue Sky
May blossoms and new, baby blue sky are brought forth by April rains. (Very fortunate. The showers had become stale.) This summer, that bright, cheery blue is a terrific choice for toes since it complements all skin tones and is versatile enough to go with any ensemble. The pastel hue of Nails Inc. in Sky’s My Limit is reminiscent of a beautiful day at the beach on Cape Cod, while Lakur nail polish in Reverse the Charges evokes bright summer skies in the Mediterranean. Vibrant Pink
There are two types of summer: summer without a capital S and summer with three or five exclamation points. Perhaps a few of fire emojis as well. Jelly Pink
With Y2K becoming popular on TikTok, behold the peek-a-boo bras! frosted eyeshadows! Jeans with a low rise! A translucent jelly manicure pays homage to vintage jelly sandals. Manicurist Stephanie Stone of Los Angeles adds, “[Jelly Pink] is great for the wearer who normally loves a neutral but wants to add a little pop to their look.”
Blush Jelly Gloss Nail Polish by Essie Nail Art Studio Cirque Colors in Peach Jelly is a warmer, more coral tone, whereas Jelly is the sheer color of the cotton candy-flavored lip gloss you stole from the drugstore and stuffed in your baguette handbag on a dare in 2002 (it’s alright, we’re definitely passed the statute of limitations). Lights Lacquer in Just a Tint dries to a thin, light pink tint, while seeming red in the bottle.
Poppy Orange
Paintbox Nail Lacquer in Like Coral is the enticing color of an actual red poppy flower, while Dazzle Dry Lacquer in Red Hot Chili has a tinge more orange — like a monarch butterfly’s wings — and Tood Nail Polish in Sharareh is that same warm orange but with a hint of shimmer. Manicurist and founder of JINsoon, Jin Soon Choi, likes this punchy orange-red color that is “perfect for those who want a bright and cheerful pedicure that still feels light and airy.”
Yellow
This summer, Choi anticipates seeing more happy yellow pedicures. A soft hint of yellow, such as OPI Natural Origin Nail Lacquer in Make My Daisy, is the ideal subdued yet cheery hue if you’re having this pedicure somewhere special, like a country club in the Hamptons for a game of tennis. A bolder, spicier yellow like Color Club Nail Lacquer in Rum Runner will stand out if you’re traveling to a boisterous, bright place like Rio de Janeiro or Jamaica. Pleasing Nail Polish in Lion’s Underpants is a great option if you want a real sunny yellow for all day wear.
Lilac
Both manicurist Laura Malarkey and Nailing Hollywood CEO Mazz Hanna said lilac is an up-and-comer for summer 2024. “It’s the perfect transition shade from spring to early summer,” adds Hanna, so it would be wonderful for that first picnic where you whip out your sandals. It makes for a pedicure that enters the room before you arrive and lets everyone know you’re there for the party if you do manage to overcome the odds (we believe in you; she’ll be back to glazed donuts in no time).Manicurist Paris Nail Polish in Brazil is a traditional grass green, while Morgan Taylor Professional Nail Lacquer in Go For The Glow is a bold kelly green. Cobalt Blue
Cobalt blue is practically a neutral in the summertime. It adds a splash of color to your pedicure without taking a wild turn towards neon.
